A BRIEF HISTORY
Inaugurated during PFIP’s 9th Anniversary Gala in 2022, the Bahaghari Awards marked the first formal recognition of corporate LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts in the country. What started with a few trailblazing categories has since expanded in scale and influence, with new awards introduced to reflect the evolving DEIB landscape.

AWARD CATEGORIES
Recognizes a company that has demonstrated leadership in LGBTQ+ inclusion through sustained, measurable, and impactful programs, policies, and culture-building efforts across its organization.
Honors an LGBTQ+ employee resource group (ERG) or pride network that has led courageous conversations, developed innovative programs, and fostered a strong culture of belonging and empowerment within its workplace.
Awarded to an LGBTQ+ individual who serves as a visible, courageous leader and role model - driving meaningful progress in inclusion, equity, and visibility in their organization and community.
Recognizes a non-LGBTQ+ senior leader whose influence, voice, and sustained advocacy have significantly advanced LGBTQ+ inclusion at the strategic and cultural levels of their organization.
SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS
Celebrates a grassroots, civil society, or community-based organization that has demonstrated outstanding impact in promoting LGBTQ+ rights, services, visibility, and empowerment - bridging the gap between private sector inclusion and real-world advocacy.
Conferred by PFIP’s Board of Trustees, this honorary recognition celebrates distinguished individuals, government agencies, diplomatic institutions, or private organizations whose work in public service, legislation, media, or community development has significantly advanced the cause of LGBTQ+ equality and human rights.
A special award given to an individual whose personal advocacy, visibility, and partnership with the LGBTQ+ community have created transformative change—either within the workplace, in public service, or through national influence. This award reflects PFIP’s values of inclusive leadership and strategic allyship.
Presented to an LGBTQ+ individual whose life and leadership serve as an inspiration to others, embodying authenticity, resilience, and advocacy. This award recognizes exemplary individuals—whether from corporate, creative, or civil society backgrounds - who uplift the community by being boldly and unapologetically visible.
